I’ve spent my career coming up with solutions, usually a new product at the heart of them, together with good people, in companies both small and large. Size and complexity have never been the point: everything from a single plastic part to complete offshore systems — the tools are the same. Havdyn is my own, and admittedly of modest size, but that changes nothing about how the work gets done: I still work with good people — now across our own companies, and we call on each other as the work demands.
The upside for the customer is simple: you deal directly with the person who draws the product, so nothing gets lost in translation. Havdyn takes on commissioned development end to end — brief, engineering, qualification, tooling — so you can have the solution you need without carrying the development behind it.
The name Havdyn combines two Norwegian words: hav (sea) and dyn, an old word for a deep, resonant roar. It was coined about a century ago in Fosnavåg, on the coast of Sunnmøre, as the name of an all-men’s choir directed by my great-grandfather Arne on my mother’s side — and accompanied by my grandfather Leonard on my father’s side. A small tribute, and a fitting name for work tied to the sea.
